St Stephens Church
Until 1911, a lookout and fire watch lived in a specifically furnished dwelling in the tower, high above the rooftops of town; at some stage, triplets had been born there. Today, St. Stephen’s presents itself as a hall church with a standard layout of a nave and two aspect aisles whose Gothic vaults haven’t yet been restored. The partitions are completed in white, creating a beautiful distinction to the pink sandstone of the supporting construction elements. The backside part of the spacious steeple as much as the pointed arch frieze dates most likely back to Willigis’s church. The dome and lantern have been put in place for the city’s 2000th anniversary in 1962.

The church, on the strategy street to the town centre, seats 250 and has disabled entry. I thought this would have all been over by final Easter, boy was I mistaken. I do hope and pray that we will be again to a extra regular setting in our Church someday this summer.
